I am so thankful for everyone's prayers during Princess's tonsillectomy. I am telling you we could feel every one! God is so good!
The procedure went very well. The first time she woke up, she was howling in pain and very disoriented. The nurses gave her something in her IV which put her back to sleep and took the edge off the pain. The whole time I was holding her, I thought, "Here we go!" Just dreading the next time she awoke.
The next time, however, she was doing great, drinking water, calm. Phew! We got her in the car and she wanted a milk shake. Yes! Every time we told her to drink, she did. We got her home, she slept, took medicine, ate lots of popscicles, pudding, jello, juice, water. She wanted to go outside and play. Of course, she couldn't, but we were amazed that she felt that good. I enjoyed it, and braced myself for the next morning. They say the second day is worse.
Well, it's not worse. She woke up and said, "Can we go somewhere?" (She's a "don't-stay-at-home" like me.) I keep wondering when the hard part is coming.
Then I realized that I am constantly in this state. My life is going pretty well right now, and I can't just accept it in the moment. The tough times will come, and I'm not convinced Princess won't have some hard days with her surgery, but why not just accept the good things? Accept that God wants to bless and not only test.
Do you find yourself just waiting for the tests, so that you can't enjoy the blessings?
For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened."Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! Matthew 7:8-11

I'm so glad it went well!
And yes, my husband is always accusing me of waiting for the bad stuff to happen. I'm trying hard to change that. I can totally relate to what you're saying.
So glad to hear it Sarah! Let her know we all are still praying for her and what an awesome testimony of Gods faithfulness to her.
Yes, I do sometimes catch myself walking around poised to duck and cover because I am waiting for some kind of trial or hardship to come my way.
It's no way to live! Thanks for the reminder that His grace is sufficient!
Sarah, I missed the before surgery post and am so glad to hear all went well. Yes, often like you I find myself waiting for the roof to cave when things are going well. It's called the weakness of human flesh. :)
Hope Princess continues to feel great.
