Why reclaim Autumn? Read this first!
1. Take a nature walk. Collect colorful leaves. Make a crown and be the Queen of the forest sprites.
2. Make leaf rubbings. Using paper, cover a leaf with the textured veins facing up. Color evenly with crayons until the patterns show up.
3. Paint with leaves. Paint on the surface of the leaf, then turn it over and press onto the paper. Use the same leaf several times without using more paint. Watch the color fade just like the leaves on the trees.
4. Make pine cone birdfeeders. Collect pine cones, spread peanut butter into the crevices. Coat with birdseed, and hang on a nearby tree.
5. Take a drive in the country to drink in the colors of the changing leaves. If you're worried about gas prices, take the bikes!
6. Go to a pumpkin patch and pick out pumpkins. Be sure to take your camera and snap some photos of the kids sitting among the pumpkins.
7. Make a Pumpkin Pie, and roast the seeds! Yum! Of course you must let the kids scoop out the pulp, feeling the texture in their hands, and how good it feels to wash them off.
Tune in tomorrow for a scrumptious recipe for Pumpkin Maple Pie!
