And the Single Best Town in America is…

Three Lakes, Wisconsin!!

Three Lakes Wisconsin will receive an Ultimate Block Party this summer with country music trio Love and Theft, ABC soap stars and lots of great quintessential American food.  Of course, who can have a cookout without Kraft Singles American cheese for the cheeseburgers?  (Seriously, you can ask my friends- I’m not usually exclusive to food brands, but I will NOT buy anything but Kraft Singles American slices)

A while ago I wrote about the Kraft Singles “Single Best Town” Contest with Disney’s  This contest was a really great way to shine the spotlight on some awesome home towns, and get America thinking about what make their own town special!

Being a proud North Carolinian, I was so excited when Gastonia, NC was pronounce one of the 10 finalists for Single Best Town in America! I spread the word here on the blog, on Facebook and Twitter, to get my NC peeps to vote.  Gastonia ended up THIRD, right behind Bell Buckle, TN (another of my favorite picks)!

Of course, the NC High Country is still on the top of MY list! Here is what the High Country looks like right now! It’s breathtaking!

Many of you voted as well, and shared the perfect afternoon in your town– and had a chance to win a $125 Amex Gift Card from Kraft!!

Olga, one of the winners of the $125 Amex Gift Card, said,

I voted for *Colorado Springs*. . .
I SO want to visit :)

I will talk about a sunset in a little town in Colombia, called Salento. It’s in the mountains, so you are surrounded by green, and super tall palms. . .so relaxing!

Yes, I’m pretty sure she means Columbia in South America, not South Carolina! {wink}

Tiffany also won a gift card, and it just so happens, she lives in MY town!!

I just cast my vote for Gastonia because anytown in NC is awesome!

Now, a perfect afternoon in my hometown (this is the first time I’ve referred to Boone, NC as that) is breakfast at the Daniel Boone Inn, a crazy day at Tweetsie with the kids, dinner on my backdeck- listening to the creek and watching the sunset.

Commenter Sal Williams has me wanting to visit this town!

Our little town of Clewiston in the heart of the Florida Everglades is called the sweetest town in America ….we grow a lotta sugar. Our best afternoon is spent lazing on the banks of a canal with a cool beverage in one hand and a fishin’ pole in the other, catching fish and listening to country music. So peaceful, quiet and serene – a body can even hear himself think.

Jessie Leigh has a storybook town in New England (where I was born) She also has an inspirational blog about parenting a micro0preemie.

My town is quintessential New England… we have a beautiful town green right in the center. My perfect afternoon, no matter the season, involves the green. In Spring, the dogwoods bloom and sway in the breeze making for a perfect place to settle with a good book (or a couple wiggly preschoolers!). In Summer, it’s a lovely spot to spread a blanket and have a picnic. In Fall, we go for brisk walks and crunch the leaves. In Winter, it is lined with gorgeous trees and the whole town gathers to sing Christmas carols together… so special!

I would LOVE to be there for Christmas!

Anyway, go check out why America loves Three Lakes, Wisconsin (did you read that with the accent?  I did) And also, check out Disney’s’s See America, Door County Wisconsin page.  They have a coloring sheet, and travel checklists, as well as this handy Car Trip Checklist! I’m printing this out for our summer vacations this year, when we go to Ocean Isle, NC and North Myrtle Beach, SC!

What about YOU?  Where are YOU travelling this summer?

Disclosure: I have partnered with KRAFT Foods to help promote the “Single Best Town” in America program. I have been compensated for my time commitment to the program, which includes writing about my own hometown experiences and hosting a giveaway where the prize has been provided by KRAFT Singles. However, my opinions are entirely my own and I have not been paid to publish positive comments.
