Attack of the Killer Laundry Room!

When you see my laundry room, you will feel better about yours! Watch as I wrestle the monster into submission!

In this video, you will see many things that will hopefully “Work For Me” when it comes to keeping this room de-cluttered. A few of the things are:

  • When cleaning a room, take everything out first, then only put back necessary items
  • Use the same type of container for all items in a particular cabinet
  • Get rid of containers that aren’t working for you, and get new ones. (ie: the pet food containers in the video)
  • Plan at least a day for huge projects like this!

What works for you?

  1. You go girl!! Looks great.

I thought I was the only CRAZY mom with a even CRAZIER house!!

Glad to see I am not alone.

  2. Didn’t you post about this laundry room the last time you organized it?!? 🙂 My house is only about 600 square feet and our washing machine is outside, so we don’t really have a problem with clutter in the laundry room. My kitchen bar and the back of the couch are the gathering clutter places. I’ll video it for you.

  3. Coma Girl says:

Ok, I would kill to have a laundry room right off my kitchen (mine's in the basment) and all that extra cabinet space!!!

I have a slight OCD problem, so no I don't have a room like that. Even my laundry room is neat & organized. But I am crazy (and always stressed because of it).

Good luck keeping it clean – it looks great!

  4. i so wanted to see it, but apparently the video no longer exists.

  5. here's mine… 🙂 Blurred, from phone, pardon me!

  6. That’s awesome Jan! I love seeing your place! This summer, I really need to do more line drying. I am spoiled with that room aren’t I? It’s a blessing and a curse. And yes, I did post about it last time. It deteriorates fast, but I made some changes that I think should work… maybe

  7. Coma Girl, wanna move in with us for a while?

  8. See…if this was me… I’d have to wear the same clothes for a week to make it look like I got it done in a day!! LOL!!

I’m so envious of the space!!! My “laundry room” is a closet off of the kitchen (thankfully)…someday, someday.

I always blame my clutter on lack of places to put things…but perhaps that isn’t the problem…perhaps if I had more space…I’d have more clutter…hmmm…the chicken or the egg?

  9. Lessa...... says:

Sarah, I am so proud of you!!! You did a great job and you did it all on your own!!!!

I’m so in need of a room like that..of course not to toss things in but to keep things sorted..great job..and yes I know it’s amazing how something so organized can get out of hand so quickly!
Still that you tackled it and did so well bravo!

  14. Blue Castle says:

You’re so brave to post a video. 🙂 Thank you for sharing. My laundry room is in the basement where I can’t see how messy it is. 🙂

  15. Lisa @ Stop and Smell the Chocolates says:

Love it! I definitely have more than one room that I keep having problems with. Guess I better get to work!

  16. Mimi Reese says:

HAHA!!! This my laundry room’s life story. Between my kids, my husband, and dog. My laundry room is the land of the living clutter. I feel your pain, and thank you for posting this.

  17. Wow, this was quite a task you had on your hands here. Isn’t it funny how we all tend to neglect these areas for so long and then find ourselves buried (lol) in a pile of stuff. Thanks for making the video, because I think many of us can relate to this scenario.
