Built Upon the Rock

A woman named Heather is having brain surgery today to remove a large tumor. As I think about what I got upset about this week, I am somewhat ashamed. Messy house? Garbage piling in the garage? Toddler temper tantrum? Delayed house building? Stomach virus? How is it that I get so trapped in my limited, selfish perspective, and is God shaking his head like I do when my daughter cries over a trivial broken toy?

I’m not sure He’s shaking his head, but He is trying to tear away the walls of the tunnel through which I view life. This is one reason I believe he led me to start blogging. In the midst of a chronically ill child, and now a brain tumor, Heather is still the most inspirational person I’ve ever encountered. Her faith is truly built upon the rock.

My troubles truly are light and momentary, if only I can fix my eyes on the Eternal One, and as I gaze at Him, see that He is always faithful and good.

If you get a moment today, pray for Heather and visit her blog, your faith will surely be lifted, as mine has been.

Awesome word and so true. I lose perspective so often. Today I was fusing because Johnny layed the drinks on the side after I had stood them up in the cooler…talk about a lack of perspective!
