Fruit of the Spirit: Back to My Roots This Week

No, I’m not talking about my gray roots (I blame my dad), although I do have a hair appointment tomorrow to insure no one knows this isn’t my natural color.  You won’t tell, right?

Anyway, this week I’m leading the music at our church’s VBS, and I’m so excited! Many moons ago (before I had kids), I was a K-8 Music Teacher.  In fact, my college degree is in Vocal Music Education.

So I am so excited to get back to my passions for kids, music and worship! We have some incredible teens and kids helping up front.  Nothing puts things in perspective like standing in front of 150 kids singing about Jesus and doing crazy motions, right?

fruit of the spirit

Did you know the tomato is actually a fruit?

This is why we do it, moms.  To bring up our children to love Jesus. When my kids achieve things in this world, it’s a great thing- academics, performing arts, great friends.  But God will not ask us about all those things when we see Him on that day.  The most important thing is that they love Jesus.

19“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matthew 6:19-21

Here is a really fun song we’re singing all week to cultivate the fruits of the Spirit.  The kids love to see how fast they can say all the “fruits.”
