We don't have the Easter Bunny, either! Although we do color eggs, and all that. I think a life-size, breaking and entering bunny is kind of scary, if you ask me! ;-)

Well, I know somebody is going to, um, crucify me for this, but we focus on the Resurrection by not having an Easter bunny. If there is a secular egg hunt, we do it. (Like at a friend's house.) We don't attend the church ones because it makes no sense to us. An egg hunt is a cute and fun spring rite, but spring fun and new frilly dresses and the Resurrection don't have much to do with one another. We enjoy both (one in a much more serious way than the other, of course), but we try to keep them separate.

Thanks for posting the Resurrection Buns. I went looking for those a few nights ago, but couldn't find them for some reason.

This year I'm getting my 4 year old twins the new "What's In the Bible" video from Veggie Tales along with new preschool bibles. We'll watch the video and read the Easter passage in their bibles. ( Info about the video is at http://www.whatsinthebible.com)

Great tips and ideas! This definitely has been weighing on my heart heavily since Graham is now getting older and starting to "get it". We have always done the stories with him, even before he could talk, about Jesus and his love and what he did for us. It warms my heart to hear his prayers at night and to see his little heart start to love God as well.

I will definitely have to check out the Resurrection buns because they sound like a great addition to include!

The main thing we do is go to church a lot! We are Episcopalians, so we attend services on Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Vigil (Saturday night), and Easter morning--that's about 9 hours of church in 8 days. I talk with my son, who is 5, about the meaning of each service before and after we attend.

I read him the real Bible instead of children's versions, most of the time. During Lent, especially the last week, we focus on the Gospel.

I like to listen to Jesus Christ, Superstar just before Easter. My son likes it too, and we talk about it. It's the story of Jesus' last week; I tell him the Resurrection is like Act III. :-)

Since the boys are still fairly young, we have a book called "The Easter Story" by Patricia Pingry that is geared to teaching young children about the story of Easter. The boys have never really been allowed candy since they all have had horrible reflux since birth and keep to a low sugar diet, so we decorate eggs and explain how the Easter Bunny came about, but how that isn't really the true meaning of Easter. Each year they have a better understanding of things.

We try to read a lot of religious themed Easter books, and make sure that our daughter's Easter basket includes books and religious toys/games. We have an Easter egg hunt, but we don't do the Easter Bunny thing. To be honest, I never understood the concept of the Easter Bunny. Santa Claus I "get", but not the Easter Bunny! lol We also go to a children's Easter service.

I never saw any of those books before. I am a reviewer for Thomas Nelson, but always get the adult books. Our home library could use some newholiday books for children.

Thanks for the super tip!

We use Resurrection Eggs to help tell us the meaning of Easter. I do give Easter Baskets for fun with a little candy, but mostly books and dvds or games. I don't think that we will dye eggs this year, but make cookies instead.

I totally agree with the candy thing... we throw out so much candy every holiday! None of the holiday's we celebrate are about candy! LOL. Anyway, we make sure to be present at church during the season of Easter first and foremost! Also, our church gave out these plastic eggs for the 12 days before easter in an egg carton. So cool! The eggs are numbered and in each egg are items and scripture. For example the first egg is from Matthew 21:11 showing how the people waived palm branches. The egg has a palm leaf in it. :) Maybe I should share all 12 on my blog and link to you! LOL. We try hard to make the holidays about Jesus not retail!

I love your resurrection bun recipe. We do decorate eggs, but I try to make sure my children know the true meaning of Easter. I think my older two have a good understanding of what Easter is all about.

Also, thanks for the giveaway.
