Introducing One Mom’s View

With the election coming up, I have been batting around some political ideas that I feel inspired to write about. I really want to get involved in the direction of our country. However, readers of Real Life signed up for an entertaining and enlightening Christian Mom Blog, not political punditry. I don’t want to spam you with things you’re not interested in. I also know that I have a very diverse ideological community here. I love that and I don’t want to ruin it.
So I’ve launched a new project, One Mom’s View: where politics and motherhood meet for coffee. IF (and that is a big if) you like to talk politics and current events, come on over for a chat. I’m unapologetically conservative, but I have a sense of humor and I try to be open minded. You can read the introductory post below, and decide if you want to visit.
If you decide not to, I seriously will not be offended. Sometimes it’s good just to avoid the places where we might disagree, and stick to our common ground.
Welcome to One Mom’s View. I am by no means a political expert, but I am a thinker. I’ve been following politics, local and national, for several years, listening to both sides, and making my own decisions on what I believe.
I also run a “mom-blog” called Real Life, where I deal with parenting, Christianity and life with sobriety and humor. I have restrained myself from writing on politics at Real Life because I see it as a sort of ministry. God certainly concerns Himself more with His Kingdom than ours, and that is my priority as well. My readers there may not want to get into politics or current events, and I don’t want to change the format on them. I don’t want to force them to sift out the content in their feed readers.
Nevertheless, I do have so many thoughts on what is going on in our country and world, and I don’t think it’s right for all Christians to sit-out the debate either. My aim is not to change anyone’s mind or argue, but just to get the ideas out there. My ideas may not be right, either, but how will I ever know if they are not shared and challenged?
I began this blog to express those thoughts and engage in a dialog with other thinkers. I feel I must explain who I am, politically, so you will know the motivations behind what I write. A few of my views are:
- I am a social and fiscal conservative, although not a Republican Party loyalist. Yes, I did vote for a Democrat in the last local election.
- I believe in the freedom to practice your own religion, but not freedom to prohibit others’ practice of religion.
- I believe the Constitution stands as it was originally written and should be interpreted literally, unless it has been changed through the amendment and ratification process.
- I believe the Constitution guarantees the right to free speech, but not the right to be heard or validated. This is why I started a blog. I can speak, but no one is forced to listen. (except you, mom)
- I believe in the equality of all races and genders. I am for equal justice, but not special justice.
- I believe in the intrinsic value of human life from the moment of conception, given by God. *** IMPORTANT: I also don’t judge those who have been deceived by our culture into thinking a fetus is not a life. While I am pro-life, I have tremendous compassion for those who are hurting because of a decision they have made.
Our discussions should not be about Right and Left. It should be about right and wrong!
But this is just One Mom’s View. So I’d appreciate anyone who’s interested in what I have to say. Listen with an open mind, take me with a grain of salt, and share what you think and believe.
I also started a group at BlogCatalog for Christian Mom Bloggers, if you’re interested in joining!

You always have such great ideas! I’m sure I’ll be a regular at your political blog. I love to talk politics, but I don’t post about them for the same reason you don’t post about them here.
Off to check out your new project and find your new group on blog catalog!
