How to Look Great for Less!

I recently had the privilege of hosting an online E.L.F. (EyesLipsFace) Make-Up at Home (MUAH) Party through She Speaks Media on my MomTV Show.  I admit I was really excited but nervous about getting the make-up and trying it out.  I had received a Blush/Bronzer and a HyperShine Lip Gloss at BlogHer, which I loved, but you just never know about the quality of the rest.

E.L.F. seemed so inexpensive ($1.00-5.00)that I was a little skeptical. It’s always awkward when I don’t like a product!  However… I LOVED it!  I tested and tried, and let my friends pillage the stash E.L.F sent me for the party (they sent me just about everything)!  I put this makeup to the ultimate test, performing in a 2-hour Nutcracker ballet using E.L.F. as my stage makeup!

It fared very well: no smudges, no “melting,” I never had to reapply my lipstick, and my face did not get the super shine look of a sweaty dancer!  Here are some of the pictures of E.L.F’s performance during my performance. The kids have some on too (even the little mouse’s whiskers!)

And here I was practicing in my bathroom:

It’s important to note that make-up is not  “one-product-fits-all” deal. If one type of item doesn’t work for you, try another type that may be better for your skin.   (For example, I use the Cover Stick Foundation, but mineral might be better for your skin-type) Here are some of my favorites and the items that I use:

  • All Over Cover Stick Foundation for $1!: I need a full coverage foundation to even out brown spots and melasma, and this is the perfect thing.  I dab it on all areas of my face and spread it with a dampened make-up applicator.
  • e.l.f. Mineral Makeup is $3! If you like Mineral Make-up, this is only $3.00!  The trick is in the application of the mineral make-up and it feels very light and airy.
  • Hyper Shine Lip Gloss Only $1!: Although I used a lipliner and lipstick for the performance, I usually like a shiny lip gloss, and I love the twist up Hypershine Gloss
  • The $1 Waterproof Eyeliner is my absolute favorite thing!  I’ve been using it for about 3 weeks, and I LOVE it.  I’ve never used liquid eyeliner before, but this product makes it just as easy, but longer lasting than pencil.

I loved this make-up so much that I signed up for the Affiliate Program, and am going to start promoting them here in my blog.  So in the interest of full disclosure, these links are affiliate links, and I get a small (tiny) percentage if someone buys through these links. So if you feel like it, I would be grateful.  You can also just go to Target and get some!

But mainly I wanted to tell you about the super new make-up find!  Leave me your favorite frugal beauty tip in the comments!

I love E.L.F products! I didn’t realize they had home parties. I’d just purchased their products in stores.
