Make Homemade Baby Food, Hide Nutrients in Toddler’s Food, too!

When My first daughter was born, I tried making her baby food. I really loved being in control of the ingredients and using fruits and veggies I found on sale. However, I didn’t love how difficult it was! Back then, they didn’t have the cool products on the market these days that make moms’ lives so much easier.

When MomTV asked me to create a webisode using the Baby Brezza One Step Baby Food Maker, I immediately thought of using the pureed baby food to make older kids’ meals healthier as well! Here is my recipe for Sweet Potato and Carrot Puree for the baby, and fortified Macaroni and Cheese for the older kids!

Do you make your own Baby Food? Do you add extra nutrients to your kids food without telling them? Let me know in the comments. (In a reader or email? Click here to comment)

  1. I’m still waiting for my Baby Brezza to arrive. Not quite waiting with bated breath, because these things always take awhile, and I’d get a powerful headache if I didn’t breathe normally in the meantime. Can’t wait to try it, though!

It is really cool… but yes, please breathe! 😉

I made all of my kids’ baby food! I started with a 12 year old blender, and upgraded to a Cuisinart food processor. My friends thought I was crazy, but my kids ate anything I gave them. Once in a bind we tried to give my daughter some jarred food, and she wouldn’t have anything to do with it. My little guy only ate baby food for under a year, then he wanted finger foods. That was one if the high points of my mothering – knowing every morsel that went into their mouths!

  4. Oh, those things are so cool!
