My Five Senses

I See:
Beautiful sunset off my back deck.
Open-armed toddler asking me to hold her.
Neglected vacuum cleaner.
I Hear:
My wonderful husband reading
and singing with his princesses.
“What a friend we have in Jesus…”
Nothing else can top this!

Nothing else can top this!
I Smell:
Grilled steaks and chicken, yum!!
Dirty dog, who was supposed to be a Standard Poodle,
but is really a Labradoodle.
Damp air from a good rain

I Taste:
Bad breath, I really need to brush my teeth.
(How’s that for “real”?)
Foods not on my eating plan that I ate today:
ice cream, cookies, cupcake, real Coke mmmm…

I Feel
The incredible grace of God and happiness,
because of what He has done in and through me.

Thank you, Randi, for hosting Get Real Monday.
I am always reminded that while God is in the great theological debates and spiritual revelations, He is also with me throughout my “Real Life.” In the meals with family, the majestic sunsets, the crying and laughing children, and, yes, the ice cream, cookies, cupcake, real Coke mmmm…

The bad breath made me laugh! You know, it is good to neglect the vacuum once in a while and to eat some cookies and such! Glad to hear you are taking some time to enjoy!

I think it’s so cool that you have this Get Real Monday and the Wordless Wednesday! YOu are so organized with your blogging! Impressive… ours has just been a hodgepodge of stuff for the last four years. Sometimes it’s good, sometimes it’s stale.
Love ya!

By the way, isn’t it still Sunday? Maybe you aren’t as organized as I thought? hmmmm….

I love sunsets, steaks and shnoodles! Can I come over?

I love how you find all the special joys (and real things) in one day of your life. Simple joys are really what it’s all about!!

HI!
I love your website…I love the realness of it and the fact you promise NOT to depress me with “many stories about how my house is perfectly decorated and cleaned, my children are dressed to the tee and behaving like angels, and I have a four course meal ready for my husband when he gets home from work; and you can, too, if you just do what I do!”
Thank you for being real!

My vacuum cleaner is neglected, too! Maybe they can get together!

Great post-very real. Sometimes it’s the “little things” that make our day so great! Also, I am so glad I stopped by your blog, because the Brock & Bodie Theone book caught my eye. It looks like a goodie, and I might have missed out if not for you!

I like your list! I just found you via the links and I’ll be back! Hope you found time to brush your teeth today!!!!

I love your lists ~ very real, lol! My vacuum cleaner just doesn’t feel the love from me. We only meet once a week when I vacuum my bedroom; most other times it must feel the love from my younger daughter (who obviously inherited her father’s gene of loving to vacuum!).
And Stinky – whoops, I mean our dog – just got his long overdue bath this afternoon. When I finish blog hopping I’ve got to trim his hair which at least now smells good!
I’m going to mark your site and come back to read more later.

Oh, these were good! The bit about brushing your teeth gave me a really good laugh.

Gotta love the icecream, cookies, cupcakes and Real Coke!
It’s only real pop for me too. If I’m going to drink it I want the good stuff…not the diet! My summer eating plan includes icecream most days!

thanks for the insight!

Great list. I love reading insights such as these from others. They make me feel and view life as “real”. Thanks.

My friend Sarah –
I just went to see what you have posted lately, and was so at peace to see the song, “What a Friend We Have in Jesus.” You probably never knew this (since we grew up in such different churches), but that was my favorite hymn growing up. Still know every word!
Love,
Tiffany (feel free to e-mail me anytime at Tmhhays@aol.com)
