Orange-Beet-Carrot Juice That Actually Tastes Good

Orange Beet Carrot Juicing

My husband and I were so excited to start juicing when we finally decided to buy a juicer. My husband immediately started experimenting with different fruits and vegetables and was able to drink the juices with no problem. Some tasted better than others, but he was able to get them all down.

I, on the other hand, was disappointed because every juice I tasted would illicit a gag reflex and an upset-feeling stomach. I wrote this on Facebook, thinking I was just strange to have difficulty getting it down:

I am a juicing failure. Just about every juice I’ve tried makes me want to throw up.  Not even like I can choke it down – like it’s coming back up involuntarily.

Believe it or not, many friends commented, saying they were the same way! Apparently, some people just have sensitivities

to certain raw juices. So I assumed that I would have to sit out of the juicing thing, until my friend Nikki (check her out at showed me a new recipe. She said, “I guarantee you will be able to drink this!”

I remember tasting it and singing, “Hallelujah!” because it wasn’t gross! I shared the recipe with a few friends who couldn’t stomach the other juices and they had success as well!

I drink about 8 ounces of this juice for breakfast in the mornings. I find it gives me a boost of energy, holds my appetite until lunch, and I end up eating less at lunch since I’m not famished!

Do you have a hard time juicing because your stomach is too sensitive? Try this juice as a starter and you'll be delighted.

  • 2 medium/small beets, root only, peeled OR 1 large beet
  • 4 medium carrots, peeled
  • 2 oranges

  1. Put all ingredients through your juicer.
  2. Store in refrigerator in airtight container until ready to drink.
  3. For easier drinking, serve over ice and drink with a straw. If the juice seems too thick for you, just add a little water.
  4. TIP: Line your pulp container with a grocery bag, so you can easily lift it out to discard/compost.

Let me know what you think after you try this! If you like it, then you could put a pin in it!

  1. Hi Sarah,

I have the same problem drinking raw juices. I can’t seem to hold them down. In fact as soon I sip a little of the raw vegetable juice I gag. I am going to try your juice recipe to see if can hold it down, because I really like drinking healthy juices, if I could just drink them without getting nauseated. I haven’t been to keep the juice down.

Tracy, let me know if this works for you. Be sure to put it over ice and drink through a straw. It’s easier for me to tolerate that way.
