Real Cool Stuff: Zhu Zhu Pets, Lands End Backpacks & Feel Good Sweaters

The first really cool product I want to share is a new toy! Zhu Zhu Pets Hampsters are toy pets that move randomly around their own habitat, which you can customize however you want! Each part is sold separately, so you can mix and match, and rearrange the habitat.

The starter “Fun House” starter set retailsat for $19.99 (Regularly $29.99), and they have a three pack of hampsters for $29.99. However, and are out of stock, which explains why they are exorbitantly priced on Amazon!

Click here to visit the website and see more info, although I’ll warn you that there is a video with an annoying song that plays each time you refresh the page! This toy is a lot of fun! The only challenge I have had is how to store it.

Here is a video of my kids playing with Zhu Zhu Pets, you really do have to see it for yourself!

My kids are going back to school in style this year, with Backpacks from Lands’ End. The ClassMate(R) Backpack, in pink, was sent to me from Lands’ End, so I could give them some feedback with a survey. I decided to post about it, because many people think Lands’ End backpacks are a huge investment. I loved the backpack as a basic school backpack, and it only costs $24.50 (reg $29.50). This backpack will last at least through the year, and then some!

At BlogHer Chicago, in the MomSelect Suite, they had the best atmosphere, along with the best swag! Maria Bailey, MomSelect and Lands’ End sent us home with an Eco-Friendly Backpack, which retails at $49.50. This is definitely a full-service backpack, which could be used for hiking, camping, or school. It also has a 15″ laptop sleeve, which is really cool!

I thwarted the character-marketing onslaught accompanying kids’ backpacks, by letting the kids add keychains and zipper pulls to customize the backpack. Thatway, when they get tired of their pop star du jour, they can just change the “flair”!

Lands’ End continues to impress me with their products, customer service and community service. Their newest project features their Feel Good Sweaters and Knits collection. Again, at BlogHer Chicago, Lands’ End generously sent a Feel Good Cardigan to bloggers who wanted to know more about the project.

Let me tell you, the first word I have for these sweaters is SOFT! It really is true when they say, “As soft as cashmere with the price of cotton.” And here are some facts about the Feel Good campaign to help families:

  • For every blog post about the collection until September 16th (realize that’s right around the corner) we will donate a cone of FeelGood yarn to volunteer knitters at Warming Families. One cone of FeelGood yarn is enough to make 28 hats to be donated to homeless individuals in communities across the country.
  • For every Feel Good Sweater purchased, Lands’ End will donate yarn to One Heart Foundation’s Warming Families. Warming Families is a charity whose members knit clothing for the homeless.
  • You can knit your own hat for the Warming Families charity! Vickie Howell, best-selling craft author and host of TV’s Knitty Gritty has created two patterns that you can download here. Vickie can be found on the Lands’ End YouTube channel here, demonstrating a tutorial.

Join Lands’ End and Vickie Howell, host of TV’s Knitty Gritty, for a Twitter Party to celebrate the kick-off the FeelGood Campaign! The party will feature more than 20 fun giveaways ranging from the FeelGood sweater and Vickie Howell’s books to Lands’ End gift cards and FeelGood yarn.
