Speak Now for Kids~ We Have a Voice for Health Reform

Health care accessibility is one of the most hotly debated topics in America today. We hear about many different proposed solutions, from various experts and politicians. However, we rarely see a spotlight put on children’s health care. And we rarely hear from ordinary citizens – moms and dads, about what they would like to see in healthcare reform for their children.
From the website: “Speak Now for Kids in Health Reform is a national campaign sponsored by the National Association of Children’s Hospitals (N.A.C.H.). N.A.C.H. is joined by national partners and supporting organizations from around the country who all care deeply about how children will be treated in health reform. Speak Now for Kids in Health Reform urges parents, family members, health care providers and other advocates to tell Congress why children matter in health reform – through stories, photos and videos. Be a champion for children and Speak Now.”
Beginning May 1, you can visit www.SpeakNowforKids.org and tell President Obama and Congress what children need in health care. You will be able to join children’s advocates from around the country and:
- Be a champion for children in health reform
- Register your priorities for health reform
- Learn more about the way health care is delivered to children
- Share your health care stories, photos or video testimonials
There are no better voices for what children need in health reform than the parents, family members, physicians, nurses and others who care for them. Join us, and give children a voice in national health reform!
Now, the great thing about this campaign is that it is not necessarily partisan in its reach. They want ordinary parents, doctors and caregivers to just speak out! Your messages will go straight to Capitol Hill.
Honestly, the cynic in me is trying to rear its ugly head in several different ways. I mean, we have seen so many political games, hidden agendas, and propaganda in Washington, as well as “political action campaigns.”
But the fact that this is rooted in real people, our experiences, our ideas is promising! Speak Now for Kids isn’t coming with one message, but they are encouraging YOU to share YOURS!
I definitely have some strong ideas of what I want for my health care coverage, and that of my children. Many of them differ from what the administration has promised. But, I am not letting that stop me from letting my voice be heard! Listening to each other- and really hearing- is the first step in any progress!
So if YOU want a voice in the Children’s Healthcare discussion in America, go now to www.SpeakNowForKids.org. Sign up, and share YOUR story!
