The Best Barbecue Chicken Ever

I guarantee this recipe is the easiest and yummiest barbecue chicken you have ever tasted! My mother-in-law introduced me to this recipe. I purchased chicken breasts this week for $2.50 / lb at Harris Teeter, so I made this for a friend who is going through a hard time right now.

Barbecue Chicken (6-8 servings, about $.90 each)

3-4 boneless chicken breasts
1 bottle of barbecue sauce
1 12-oz can of Dr. Pepper (Coke or Diet Coke works, too)

  • Preheat oven to 375. Place chicken breasts in a single layer in a 9×13 baking dish.
  • Pour the barbecue sauce over the chicken.
  • Pour the soda over that.
  • Bake for about 45 minutes, or until the chicken is done.
Serve this dish with rice and your favorite vegetable.

See? Wasn’t that easy?

You know you currently have a ShoppingAds ad that features a busty blonde advertising her own goods, so to speak.

It appears to be on a rotation or something. I had the forethought to snap a desktop picture (shift, command, 3 for all you Apple users out there). Sarah, if you email me at, I will forward the pic so you can see what I saw.

  3. Now this I will have to make!

  4. Now that’s my kind of cooking! I love super easy meals that require only a few ingredients and cook in the oven!

  5. I make something very similar to this and my family LOVES it. I mix 1 can diet pepsie, 1 cup ketchup, pour over chicken breast in large skillet. bring to boil and simmer 45 minutes with lid on. Take lid off and cook on med til sauce thickens.
I usually seer the chicken first to help seal in the juices.
I will try your version next time. It sounds even easier than mine.

  6. Rob in Madrid says:

It would much taster and healther if you used home made BBQ sause. Opps, forget it, adding diet pepsi, well lets just say adding diet pepsi isn’t the healthests of choices. But I may try it anyways.
