Fitness Friday: Twirling Again


I finally got to go back to dance class last night after a few weeks of snow and ice cancellations. It was really great to be there again.  It’s also awesome to be somewhat happy about the health and fitness of my body.  A year ago, I would have been mortified to be in a leotard and tights.  This year, I’m 15 pounds lighter, aerobically more fit, and stronger.

I still have about 15 pounds to go to my ideal goal. But there’s no better motivation than being in a ballet outfit every week, right?  I’ve taken steps to change my eating habits, include more whole grains, protien, and veggies, and I’ll be using the Wii Fitness programs to keep my aerobic stamina up!

Lots of people have asked how the Nutcracker went last December. It was so empowering to be able to dance on stage again, in pointe shoes, no less.  I would have never been comfortable enough to try without my journey to feel better about myself!  So I thank everyone who has supported me.

NOW, I just have to get back into a split for the Beauty and the Beast show in May! OUCH!

I had kind of planned to do a vlog focused on me, and how I was doing, etc.  However, I thought it would be more fun to go behind the scenes and show some of the images that the audience doesn’t normally see.  If you look carefully, you can catch me in a white costume, as a “snowflake.”

    In my opinion, if your main goal is to lose weight, you must combine your ballet classes with a more calorie consuming dance such as salsa. Good luck anyway.
