You Might Be a Right Wing Extremist If…

I rarely write a political post on this website, although if you follow me on Twitter, I occasionally let out an evil conservative opinion or two. {wink} If politics makes you gag, or if you are a commited left-wing ideologue, you may wat to skip this post.

I am growing increasingly upset by the double standard that I see regarding free speech and dissent. During the last administration, dissent was patriotic. Now, if you disagree with the direction the government (president and congress), you are considered (by the mainstream media as well as the government) at best a whiner, at worst, a racist fascist nutjob.

As someone who vocally disagreed with many of the later policies of the Bush Administration (especially regarding the monof etary bailouts and goverment control of private companies), and now, the Obama Administration on just about every issue, I resent the recent attempt by the Department of Homeland Security to brand dissenters as some type of fringe group motivated by racism and paranoia.

According to the latest Homeland Security report, you might be a radical rightwing extremist if you…

10. feel “frustration over a perceived lack of government action on illegal immigration.” Those millions of illegal immigrants pouring over the border each year are just figments of your imagination.

9. “have feared, predicted, and anticipated a cataclysmic economic collapse in the United States.” You mean like, the one that’s happening now?

8. are concerned about “the perceived loss of U.S. jobs in the manufacturing and construction sectors.” I’ll tell my neighbor who owns a construction business that his loss of work is only his perception.

7. perceive a “government infringement on civil liberties.” In this case, you may only protest civil liberties infringements perpetrated by a Republican (ie. the Patriot act), which is considered patriotic, and this protest may include calling the Republican President a fascist, nazi, liar, murderer, etc. When a Democrat is elected all such rhetoric must stop.

6. “Returning veterans possess combat skills and experience that are attractive to rightwing extremists. The willingness of a small percentage of military personnel to join extremist groups during the 1990s because they were disgruntled, disillusioned, or suffering from the psychological effects of war is being replicated today. A prominent civil rights organization reported in 2006 that “large numbers of potentially violent neo-Nazis, skinheads, and other white supremacists are now learning the art of warfare in the [U.S.] armed forces.” You get the point. Now I wish they would tell us how they really feel about our military men and women.

5. “rejecting federal authority in favor of state or local authority.” Maybe the US Consitution is a radical rightwing extremist, since it specifically states that powers not explicitly given to the federal government shall be left to the states.

4. you are dedicated to a single issue, such as opposition to abortion. Yes, those evil Christians who want the unborn to actually be born.

3. you are displeased with “the loss of U.S. manufacturing capability to China and India, Russia’s control of energy resources and use of these to pressure other countries, and China’s investment in U.S. real estate and corporations.” Is there anyone who actually is FOR these things?

2. you believe in “’end times’ prophecies.” That covers just about every world religion.

1. feel antagonistic toward the new presidential administration and its perceived stance on a range of issues, including immigration and citizenship, the expansion of social programs to minorities, and restrictions on firearms. I repeat, dissent is only patriotic when you oppose a Republican administration.

So if any of these statements apply to you, you are a rightwing extremist nutjob! Feel free to admit it in the comments.

  4. Jordan (MamaBlogga) says:

How exciting! I always wanted to be a political extremist, but it generally didn’t jibe with my conservative support of the Constitution. Until now. 😀

  7. Hello, my name is Sheila and I am a right-wing nut-job!

  8. I guess I’m a right wing nut job too. And a patriot who is scared to death by what I’ve seen happen in the last 100 days! If you want to lose some sleep, check the picture of our president and Chavez on the Drudge Report. This is not a diplomatic handshake…this is a “hey bro…pal…buddy…cool dude…comrade…dictador compañero” handshake. absolutely sickening

Just remember, no matter how much Obama screws up this nation over the next four years, it will always be Bush’s fault.

  12. Mandi @ It's Come To This says:

And I bet #11 is if you blog, tweet or FB about it … ha!! What’s funny to me is I think the biggest whiner out there is our President himself … did someone forget to tell him the job of President is probably going to be a hard one!!

  13. Lisa @ Stop and Smell the Chocolates says:

Uh-oh! I must be a right-wing extremist! And now I have gone and “suspiciously” ended up in Montana for a visit – where the right-wing extremists like to hide out in the mountains! 🙂

  14. Sarah@Life in the Parsonage says:

    Confirmed. 🙂

  15. I guess I need to admit that I am an extremist nutjob, too.

  16. resplendentlife says:

Well, I’m a Libertarian, so I’ve always been considered a nutjob. LOL! This is nothing new. Although I recall being called unpatriotic for being against the Patriot Act and against the Iraq War. Now that I’m against bank bailouts, against ballooning deficits, against the Fed and against the IRS, I’m not being called unpatriotic, I’m just being told that I don’t ‘get it’.

  17. Anonymous says:

Here is the list that came from the Missouri Information Analisys Center report. It said if you were opposed to any of the following, you might be a right-wing-extreemist:

    The United Nations
    The New World Order
    Gun Control
The violation of Posse Comitatus (using the military for local law enforcement)
    The Federal Reserve
    The Income Tax
    The Ammunition and Accountability Act
A possible Constitutional Convention (suspension of the Constitution)
    The North American Union
    Universal Service Program
    Radio Frequency Identification (RFID)
    Illegal Immigration

I must agree with Alan Keyes. Has this administration gone “MAD”? I believe they have.
