I have the Yamidoo theme, and I love it! I chose it because I loved the layout, and it ended up being even more versatile than I thought it would be.

Very well said. I use to be on blogger and my sis @onemomsworld got me on word press. I am starting to get the hang of it but she definitely helped me pick a great theme. Thanks for sharing.

I just recently switched over to WordPress (although still maintaining my blogger blog). I am using the Atahualpa Theme by BytesForAll- and I’m really happy with all that it allows me to do. I’m sure, as I learn more about WordPress, I may want to add some functionality- but until then, I’m happy with this one.

Ha! I still haven’t chosen one. I have one I kinda hate, hoping that will spur me on to finish my stupid layout already! I love doing my own thing, so I’m building my own theme from scratch. Really wish I had the css for my defunct political blog way back when. It was good.

Of course, I have very little time to do it myself, so I’m expecting it to be done sometime in 2012, just in time to see a Ron Paul/Sarah Palin ticket win the day. Yeah. I day dream a lot.

My daily life blog just has a free theme that I’m quite comfortable with.

Great info, Sarah. I love the business card idea. Right now I’m using a free theme on wordpress.org. I am terrified that I’ll muck things up, and so I’ve not tweaked it much, nor have I done an update. For future blogs, I will definately try one of the paid themes.

I used to use free themes, but switched over to Thesis. I was nervous since I’m not very techy, but I found I can ask a question or google it, search their forums and find exactly what I need.

I love that there are screencasts of some of the features as well.

Thesis is awesome because it has fantastic SEO. Most people think themes are just the way something looks, but a theme is also going to help your SEO. My search traffic went up 20% in the last month-the major change is using thesis.

I highly recommend getting the dev license. While not cheap you can use it on multiple sites.

Oh, man!! I’m actually working on mine behind the scenes RIGHT. NOW. I’m hoping to have it done by the end of the week, barring no complications of course. =P
I’ll come back later and tell/show you which.. I don’t want to ruin the surprise.

BUT… I completely agree with your things you learned. I learned those early on, too, since I do my own re-designing & tweaking. It’s something I’ve always encouraged others to do, too. It is SO. MUCH. easier to tweak colors and image graphics than functionality – go with function first! =)

I use Thesis on one site, and have used FlexSqueeze on a few sites I manage, but I love Brian Gardner themes too, will most likely get into the Genesis framework for a new project I am working on.
