Your Life, Your Blog: Guest Bloggers

Some of the most meaningful moments on my blog have been written, not by me, but from guest bloggers! I love asking for guest bloggers for times such as vacations, special occasions, holidays, and… well, just because.
The tears recently spilled over as the blogging dots were connected in an amazing way. Back in November, it was National Adoption Month. Not having any adoption experience, I put out a call on Twitter for guest bloggers. My incredible and inspirational friend, Nicole Wick answered the call and posted this touching story of her adoption from Vietnam.
Then, there was the Twitter Party from Amy Lupold Bair (@resourcefulmom), for AdoptUsKids, which encourages people to consider adopting from the Foster Care system.
Skip forward to Blissdom Conference 2010, where I met Kim, from MomTriedIt.net. It turns out God had been tugging at her heartstrings to adopt for quite some time, and He used these Nicole’s Guest Post and the Twitter event to get her attention. Of course I asked her if she would want to write a guest post, telling her story!
Kim’s story was so touching, I (and lots of other people) shed tears while reading it! The comments poured in on Kim’s and Nicole’s posts, and I was honored beyond measure that they shared their stories here!
We say blogging is about the community, and hosting guest bloggers is a great way to make that a reality. There are a few ways to attract guest bloggers to your website:
- Put out a mass call on Twitter or Facebook. You kinda have to be willing to take whoever responds with this method, but I have had some amazing posts from people I wouldn’t normally have thought of!
- Email a friend or favorite blogger and ask if they would be willing. When Brooke planned her Sanctity of Human Life Week, she prayed and carefully chose those who she felt would share her message of grace, healing, truth and forgiveness. I cannot tell you what a blessing it was to write “In Sheep’s Clothing” for her.
So that’s my blogging tip for today- Get some Guest Bloggers!! Have you hosted guest bloggers on your site? What about guest blogging for someone else?

Thank you again for the opportunity to share my story. The response I received was amazing. So many people decided to share that they had been thinking about fostering or adoption, but didn’t know what to do. If only a fraction of those people actually foster a child or adopt, it would be amazing. Maybe God is using my story as part of the equation, just like all of the other factors that helped me along the way. And God used you, again, in helping people down the path to exploring this wonderful journey.

I love guest-posting for others and am glad I have the opportunity to do it regularly! And I do enjoy occasionally having guest posts on my blog as it gives me a little break and gives exposure to somebody else. Great thoughts (and posts) – thanks for hosting this! Hugs!
